The Rules

The object of the game is to dispose of all the cards in your hand. The first player who gets rid of their cards wins the game. There are three ways to get rid of cards: melding, laying off, and discarding. There are two kinds of combination which can be melded.

A sequence consists of three or more cards of the same suit in consecutive order, such as 3, 4 and 5 of Spades. A group is three or four cards of the same rank, such as one 7 of Hearts, Spades and Clubs. Missing Cards can be replaced with a Joker wildcard. However, there may not be more Jokers than real cards in any combination. There may also not be two Jokers consequently.

Each turn, the player takes a card from the stock pile. At the end of the turn, a card must be placed on the discard pile.
During their turn, players can get rid of their cards by melding or laying off.

Melding: Placing a group or sequence on the table. With the initial melding, players must reach a minimum limit of 40 points.

Laying off: Adding single cards to existing groups or sequences already on the table. Jokers placed on the table can be swapped with matching real cards. However, the Joker must be placed in another group or sequence in the same turn.

Card Values:

Face Cards: 10 points
Ace: 11 points
Number Cards: face value of the respective card
Joker: value of the card it replaces or 20 points if still in hand at end of game

The game is over when one player has gotten rid of all cards and placed the last card on the discard pile. The other players add up the value of all the cards still remaining in their hands. These points will count as a negative score. There are bonus points for going out (finishing the game) in one turn, without previous melding or laying off. This is called Rummy.

After the game is finished, each player receives negative points in the value of the cards left on their hand. In case of a Rummy, the points are doubled. The winner never receives any points.
